One of GMCs bestselling vehicles is about to be revealed. General Motors Company has announced its brand new and improved 2017 GMC Acadia.

Exterior and changes

After almost a decade, GMC has finally decided to improve its well known crossover. It is a brand new 2017 GMC Acadia which will represent the second generation model. New Acadia will go through a complete redesign. It will receive changes both inside and out, new engines under the hood, and new platform. It will ride on a new GM’s mid-size/large C1XX called “Chi” platform which also underpins the new 2017 Buick Enclave, 2017 Cadillac XT5 and 2017 Chevrolet Traverse. Thanks to the new platform, it will be lighter for around 300 pounds. This will improve fuel economy, handling and acceleration. When it comes to exterior, new Acadia get all-new exterior design. The grille will be placed lower than before. The vertical headlamps will be equipped with quality LED lighting. It will get new tail lamps and revised bumper.

Inside, 2017 GMC Acadia will be completely redesigned and upgraded. It will get higher quality materials and it will be more space efficient. It will have three rows of seats which will be very comfortable and upholstered in leather. The central console will be redesigned and will get a large IntelliLink infotainment system. We will also notice a new steering wheel. The cabin will be modernized with new tech features. Some of them are: a rearview camera, Bluetooth, climate control, blind spot monitoring, sound system with six speakers, lane departure warning and so on.

Under the hood of 2017 GMC Acadia we can expect to see some new engines. The base engine could be a 2.0-liter four cylinder turbocharged which powers Cadillac ATS and Buick Regal. The second should be a 3.6-liter V6 engine with direct injection. This one will be able to produce more than 300 horsepower. As for the transmission, engines should be paired with an eight- or a nine-speed automatic gearbox. It will be offered with a FWD. However, it will also be offered with AWD system.

Release date and price

2017 GMC Acadia should appear on the market in late 2016. Speaking of the price, it should start at $32,000 and it will go up to $51,000.
