2017 BMW X5 – Changes, Redesign, Release Date

The brand new 2017 BMW X5 has been caught during its testing for the first time. From what we have seen, it will be better than ever.

Improvements and exterior design

The current X5 model is on sale since 2013, so German Automaker has decided to improve it and make it better in almost every segment. The new 2017 BMW X5 will represent the next- fourth generation model. It will undergo many refreshments inside, outside and under the hood. This luxury sport utility vehicle will be underpinned with a new platform. It is a CLAR (Cluster Architecture) rear-wheel drive platform which was firstly used in BMW 7-series six generation model. Thanks to its new platform, new X5 will show some weight saving improvements. When it comes to exterior, new X5 will be nicely designed and sculpted. It will be less boxy than the current model. The front end will feature two-part grille with vertical stripes and a pair of nicely designed LED headlamps. It will ride on larger 21-inch wheels. The body will look sportier and more attractive.

Inside, 2017 BMW X5 brings more comfort, more luxury and better safety. The cabin is comfortable, pleasant and will get some nice wood details. The seats are covered with high quality Nappa leather. The cabin is spacious and able to accommodate seven passengers. A new 10-inch touch screen display will be placed on the center of the dash. As for the equipment, it will come standard with power locks, windows, mirrors, Bluetooth, USB, AM/FM/CD player, parking sensors etc.

2017 BMW X5 will be powered with several types of engines. One option will be a 3.0-liter in-line 6-cylinder turbocharged engine. This one will be able to make 300 horses. The second will be that same 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbo engine which will be able to produce 255 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque. The next will be a 4.4-liter V8 engine. This engine will deliver 445 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque. The engines will be coupled to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The power will be sent to rear wheels.

Release date and price

According to the latest news, 2017 BMW X5 will go on sale in the second half of 2017. Speaking of the price, there is still no available information. We assume that the base price will be higher than $55,000 which is the price of the current model.
