Front and rear bumper will be slightly refreshed too. The hood will be a bit lower than before and the whole body will be more aerodynamic. It will also get 17-inch alloy wheels.

It will be able to deliver around 140 horsepower. New Toyota will offer two battery options: a nickel-metal hydride battery and new, more expensive lithium-ion pack. It will be mated to continuously variable transmission. The power will be sent to rear wheels, but all-wheel drive will probably be offered as well. The fuel efficiency will be improved for around ten percent which is 55 mpg in combined drive.

Release date and price

According to the latest rumors, 2016 Toyota Prius should be released in late 2015 or in the beginning of 2016. When it comes to the price, it should be around $24,000 and it will go up to $29,000.
