Exterior design and changes of 2016 Kia Sportage
2016 Kia Sportage will represent the next generation of this popular crossover. It will ride on the same platform as the next Hyundai Tucson. When it comes to exterior design, we will notice many improvements on the outside. First of all, both front and rear end will undergo many changes while side and roofline will stay pretty much the same as its predecessor. Its new design and style will be inspired from KX3 concept. On the front end we will see a large tri-dimensional grille and redesigned headlamps. They will be thin and equipped with latest LED technology. The rear end will get new tail lamps which will also use LED. Rear bumper will be slightly redesigned as well. The whole body will be more rounded. It will look elegant and powerful at the same time.
Interior and features
The fourth generation Sportage will appear with significantly improved interior. The cabin will look more luxurious with new high-quality materials and equipment. The seats will be comfortable and adjustable. New and larger infotainment screen will be placed on the center of the dash board. 2016 Kia Sportage will be equipped with navigation system, Bluetooth, satellite radio, USD, automatic climate control, audio system with six speakers and so on. We can expect many other features which will depend on trim level.
Types of engine and transmission
According to the latest rumors, 2016 Kia Sportage will appear with several engines. Buyers will have an option to choose between diesel, small turbo and gasoline with direct injection engines. For European market, we can expect both diesel and gasoline engines. North America will most likely get 1.6-liter and 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engines. It will also appear with a 1.2-liter inline-4 turbocharged engine with direct injection. It will be able to produce 132 horsepower and to reach from 0 to 60 mph in 7.5 seconds. Engines will be mated to a seven-speed dual clutch transmission.
Release date and price
We are hoping to see 2016 Kia Sportage on the market in late 2015 or early 2016. Speaking of the base price, it is expected to be around $22,000.
