2016 GMC Terrain is a compact crossover which will hit the market with better gas mileage, excellent handling and improved ride.
Exterior and improvements
After it was launched in 2010, new 2016 GMC Terrain will finally get its first complete update. Some of the changes included are new exterior styling, improved interior and some new features. It will also show some changes considering trim levels. It will be offered in SL, SLE-1, SLE-2, SLT and Denali. It will be larger and more comfortable than most of its competitors such as Chevrolet Equinox and Honda CR-V. It will also show better hauling capabilities. Speaking of the exterior design, new Terrain will keep its recognizable boxy and macho look with square edges. However, it will undergo some modification on both front and rear fascias. The front end will get new grille and restyled hood. Higher trim levels will get LED daytime running lights in front bumper. The whole body will now look more modern. It will ride on 18- or 19-inch wheels depending on a trim level.
2016 GMC Terrain interior design and features
The interior of 2016 GMC Terrain is very comfortable and quite spacious. It is able to accommodate five passengers. The seats are wide and comfortable. It has power driver seat and tilt/telescoping steering wheel. The dashboard is wide as well and features a seven-inch touch screen color display with infotainment system. As for the technology, it will be equipped with cruise control, air conditioning, an AM/FM/CD/XM audio system, a rearview camera, USB etc. However, depending on a trim, it will also bring many other features. Some of them are: navigation, rear-seat DVD entertainment system, automatic climate control, leather upholstery, Pioneer sound system and so on.
2016 GMC Terrain will be powered with two types of engines. The first is a 2.4-liter four cylinder engine with direct injection. It will make around 180 horsepower. It will be able to go from 0 to 60 mph in 9 seconds. The second is a 3.6-liter V6. This engine will be able to make 301 horsepower and 272 pound-feet of torque. It will reach 60 mph in 6.5 seconds. It will be offered with AWD and FWD. As for the transmission, it will be mated to a 6-speed automatic.
Release date and price
2016 GMC Terrain should hit the market sometime in the end of 2015, probably this fall. As for the price, it is estimated to be around $24,000 for the base model.
