One of GM’s well known and very popular mid size sedan is almost finished and ready to debut. We are talking about 2016 Chevrolet Malibu.
Improvements and exterior redesign
The brand new 2016 Chevrolet Malibu will show many changes compared to the current model. It will be improved in many segments including new and modern tech features and better gas mileage. The important thing is that it will be lighter for around 300 pounds. This is because of the usage of high strength but super thin steel in its construction. As well, new Chevy will be larger than its predecessor. Therefore, the interior will be more spacious, especially in the rear part of the cabin. Speaking of the exterior, it will look more powerful and handsome. The hood will be long and lower than before. The front end will feature black twin grille which will be a bit larger. Headlamps will be horizontal, narrow and elongated. They will get new LED technology. It will be offered in four trim levels: L, LS, LT and Premier.
Redesign of interior
Inside, 2016 Chevrolet Malibu will be modern and roomier like we’ve already mentioned. The rear passengers will have more leg room for around 1.3 inches. The seats will be upholstered in leather and ventilated. Depending on a trim, a 7-inch or an 8-inch touch screen will be placed on the center of the dashboard. It will be offered with some new tech features. Some of them are: Chevy’s MyLink smartphone connectivity kit, the Teen Driver system, 4G LTE connectivity with a WiFi hotspot etc. As for the safety, it will get ten airbags, rearview camera, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitors, lane-departure warnings, automatic parking assistance and so on.
2016 Chevrolet Malibu Powertrain and performance
2016 Chevrolet Malibu will be offered with several engines. The base engine is a 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder. It will produce 160 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. It will be mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox. The other option is a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4 cylinder engine. It is able to make 250 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. As for the transmission, it will be coupled with an eight-speed automatic. 2016 Chevrolet Malibu will also be offered with a hybrid. It will be a combination of a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine and a 1.4-kwh battery pack and twin electric motors. All together, it will deliver up to 182 horsepower.
Release date and price
2016 Chevrolet Malibu should hit the market in fall of 2015. As for the price, the information is still a secret, but we believe that it should be similar to the current model which is around $23,000.
